i replace the original hd of my macbook pro 2006 with a scorpion from western digital, 500gb @ 7200. Simply far better ... pay attention: battery consumption is higer!

yep.

and @ WD again... not being a dick, just read up or really make a good and deep search on the net about that seagates in the 2.5" market are the best performaing drives right now, the momentus is simply the fastest and quietest drive around right now for laptops, and very reliable***

that is something that can happen with any brand, but WDs are notorious for failure, at least it is the brand i know most people that had not much luck.

wd is one of the top leader of the sector ... belive me ... battery higher consumption is due to the rpm of the disk ... original macbook pro was shipped with a 4500rpm hard disk, the one i put into was at 7200... quite normal ...

the change btw was a big step forward .. noticable changes

fwiw i had three(!) 320gb seagate drives die in my first generation macbook. something about that combo was anything but reliable. each successive drive was replaced via warranty, and would die in the exact same manner a few months later. the final drive was removed and subsequently destroyed-by-hammer, despite the fact it was still under warranty. currently running a 500gb hitachi in last generation black macbook without issues.
