What is another good mixer like Xone 4d

Post by sheep » Wed Jul 07, 2010 10:05 pm

Hey Im going gear shopping and right now I have a korg zero 4 and its time to chuck that

I do all my shows with Live and midi mapping and very rarely use and audio lines....maybe once every 4 or 5 shows

I know about the xone 4d but I want to know is there anything out there that may be better for the same or less price.

I just would like some options before I just go out and impulse buy and blow my paycheck

but like i said I just mainly need it for midi mapping and also with NI maschine as a trigger pad. n e thought?

not really - the A&H´s are pretty much the best you can get in terms of midi-capabilities, build and audio quality.

Other choices would be the Korg Zero series (heard very mixed things about them, from faulty units to sometimes wierd sounding audio) or the the Ecler Nuo4 (extremely limited midi functionality) or Behringer DDM4000 (maybe one of the only Behringer products that doesnt completely suck - but very entry-lowend´ish of course and not comparable to a X92)

There are probably some other midi dj-mixers but imho the A&H´s are easily the best of them. IF i needed a mixer with good midi implementation i would definitely go for a xone 3D/4D or a 92 :)

<edit> overread that you allready own a Korg Zero... sry ^^

well, gotta disagree, midi capabilities yes surely A&H is leading the way, design wise they are pretty well thought out too, but built and especially sound wise Rodec is miles better, there is nothing like a Rodec (they just look shite, like a 1950 russian piece of gear) when it comes to the sound and EQs... well formula sound ain't bad either and also defo better then A&H.

if you are after midi capabilities then yes A&H is the way to go... if you need / want a mixer that actually has a real good sound and EQ for beautiful mixes then there is nothing like a Rodec on this planet. (and those are really built like a russian tank)

yap true Rodecs rule... i wasnt saying that A&H are the best sounding mixers in general, but if midi features are a must - then they absolutely are.

yep, peace!

i misunderstood you slightly then... and yes for midi features, defo A&H

for pure overall sound and EQ beauty, Rodec

the Vestax VCM 600's are the most amazing midi controller for live performances with Live.
