Hi there, I've been using Live for a while on my pc, with no real problems.
Now I'm upgrading to a mac, (os x version 10.4.11) and i'm trying to install the new version.
I did the complete package, and was going to copy just the sets (complete sets WITH instruments) over to use on the mac.
The install worked fine, everything copied over, but when I run ableton it says: The folder "company support DIR" was not found.
I've also tried the program only version with the same results.
When I click ok after this message, it just loads FOREVER, nothing happens, it doesn't crash, but it doesn't go anywhere either and I have to force-quit live.
What the hell am I doing wrong?

Re: Live 8.1.4 on Mac Os X, not working
Hi On,
first of all, I don't think you are doing anything wrong.
The error message means that Live has problems creating or accessing the folder
<your home folder>/Library/Application Support/Ableton
Please check that the folder
<your home folder>/Library/Application Support
exists and that you have read and write permission to it. To do so, select the
"Application Support" folder in Finder and hit File->Get Info (Cmd-I). In the
popup that opens, make sure that you have "Read & Write" permissions.
If this does not help, please contact [email protected] with a reference to
this thread.
I am sorry for your inconvenience.
Best wishes,
Tobias

Don't apologise, Ableton is allowing me to create the music I've always wanted, I'll look into it and get back to you or support.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Live 8.1.4 on Mac Os X, not working
i know this is over a year old, but i had the same problem.
having just re-formatted my macbook pro and upgraded to osx 10.6.4
i downloaded the ableton_suite_815_with_content.dmg
I think the mistake i made was copying the Live 8.1.5 OS X folder to applications and running ableton initially from there, instead of letting it set itself up first by running from the desktop then moving the program to an 'ableton' folder within the applications folder.
anyway i had to go through all the libraries etc and delete all the default ableton folders, restart then try again and it worked..

Re: Live 8.1.4 on Mac Os X, not working
Hello,
Please check if you can read and write in the "/tmp" directory.
How to check this? Go to the Finder, open it´s "go" menu, select "go to folder", type in "/private" without "
and choose "get info" for the "tmp" folder.
Eventually you need to delete a file within the tmp folder itself called "LiveReWireStorage_0" - you´ll find
this in a subfolder in the tmp directory.
Best,
Christian
