i'm trying to record a midi track on my alesis mmt-8 sequencer while live is playing some already recorded clips and sending midi clock to the mmt-8. i can't make this work and i'm not even sure if live's supposed to be able to do this but...
here's my setup:
yamaha cbx-k1 midi keyboard --> midiman midisport 2x2 --> tibook 400mhz --> alesis mmt-8 sequencer --> novation superbasstation synth
here's what i've found out while troubleshooting the issue:
- while playing, live sends midi clock to the mmt-8 which controls the novation just fine. so the midi connections seem to work all the way to the novation.
- i can trigger clips on live with the cbx-k1. so the midi connections seem to work from the cbx-k1 to live.
- i can't however get a note through from the cbx-k1 to the mmt-8 while live is playing. therefore i cannot record any midi tracks on the mmt-8 while listening to the audio clips playing in live.
is this the way live's supposed to do it? there's no "midi through"?

ok, i managed to work it out, kind of.
i dowloaded the free logic audio fun sequencer software and now i run it in the background with midi thru turned on. the keyboard's midi signal gets all the way to my beloved mmt-8. unfotunately there seem to be some issues to be solved with the setup (occasionally notes keep playing after the keys are released), but this'll have to do for now.
maybe you could implement midi through function in a future version of live?
thanks for the reply, btw!
