8.1.3 vs 8.1.4b file sizes, etc...

first- I am currently happy running 8.1.1, but have seen some new goodies that require 8.1.3 to run them...
I see that the file size for 8.1.3 is over 600MB ...
I also see that the file size for the 8.1.4 beta is less than 100MB...
my questions:
1. why is 8.1.3 so huge?
2. do I need to have 8.1.3 installed or can I update directly to the 8.1.4 beta?

At a guess i would say it might be because of some of the new sample libraries that come in 8.1.3

The beta installers only contain a few update packs for the preset library, whereas the 8.1.3 installer contains all factory packs that you need when you install Live 8 for the very first time. There will most likely a better solution for non-beta versions soon.

thanks for the explanation, Nico. an option to have the "fully loaded" version or the simple update version would be nice and probably save you some bandwidth, too
