Drum Rack Voices
Drum Rack Voices
Hello,
When I trigger voices in drum rack, I need to hold the key down for the duration of the sample. Is there a way that the entire sample will play, by simply tapping the key ?
I've been searching the forums for info., and the only thing I've seen is a thread that talks about saving a default simpler that has the release time adjusted.
Is this the answer ? Adjusting the release on simpler while playing the note doesn't seem to be helping...
Thanks for any relevant input you may have.

Re: Drum Rack Voices
Could it be as simple as turning on simpler's loop function ?
Re: Drum Rack Voices
Nope that didn't work. It only looped the sample when held. Who'd a thunk ?
Anyone got any ideas how to make the entire voice play with only a key strike, not a key hold ?

But, if it didn't stop looping when you lifted up the key, when would it stop looping?
Playing the sample as a one-shot from beginning to end means playing it with no looping at all, regardless of key-up. The simplest kind of "play this sample exactly as it is, exactly once" envelope is: attack=0, decay=anything, release=max, sustain=max, loop=off.

I was merely mocking my earlier naivety in thinking that the loop option would solve my issue. I'm going to try your suggestion now.luddy wrote:>> Nope that didn't work. It only looped the sample when held. Who'd a thunk ?

As luddy above suggested, release is your answer. Google ADSR-envelope.Fumato wrote:I was merely mocking my earlier naivety in thinking that the loop option would solve my issue. Re: Drum Rack Voices
You can also stick a Note Length midi plug before the Simpler set to the time of the length of the sample. It's like you just held the key down for the entire time but only need a tap.

Re: Drum Rack Voices
Put the Release all the way up.. Well, all the way up may be over kill but it will just stop when the sample stops..
Re: Drum Rack Voices
All the way up is what you want. If the release is long but not long enough, it won't cut the sample off but the volume will fall after you release the key...outershpongolia wrote:Put the Release all the way up.. Well, all the way up may be over kill but it will just stop when the sample stops..

Re: Drum Rack Voices
I was trying to solve the same problem a few days ago, putting the 'note length' midi effect right before simpler makes it behave like impulse does. One tap and the whole sample plays (according to the note length you specify). Release works too, but it might cause a noticeable volume drop in long samples.
ps: Does anybody know a workaround for making 'note length' do a whole bar? There's an annoying 1/4 note limit

Use time mode instead of sync mode. It goes all the way up to 60 secs.Dr. Fluffenstein wrote:

I know that time mode is there, it's just that sync is more convenient.LeifonMars wrote:Use time mode instead of sync mode. It goes all the way up to 60 secs.Dr. Fluffenstein wrote:

and if you want more set gate to 200% to go 120 seconds

Time mode is more exciting.Dr. Fluffenstein wrote:
