Arpeggiator sync problem

Post by elomak » Wed May 13, 2009 11:00 am

Hi all !

Here is my problem (I 've searched on the board before posting but I didn't find an answer) :

I drop an ableton arpeggiator module in a midi track. When the record button for this track is on, the pattern played by the arpeggiator is not synced with the others tracks playing (no matter the pattern is played with a note through the keyboard or through a midi clip). When the record button is off, it works perfectly and the pattern is synced with the others tracks.

Some ideas ?

(Sorry for my english !)

E.

same problem on my end. anyone know what's up with this?

I did some testing and started deleting tracks and their plugins til it worked in sync again. I can get it to a threshold where if I delete a plugin it will work again, and go out of sync as soon as I undo that action. it is not specific to any plugin either. the ableton plugins can cause the same behaviour.

what's going on here? this sucks.. I'd like to be able to use the arp. it plays back fine when the record button isn't selected but it's useless for playing into it and laying down the midi.

Same here. It renders itself (Arps) useless with the record button armed.
Well, let me put it this way, I can play it, but I start hearing what I'm inputing a bar or 2 later.
My latency is very low and actually pretty good, but this introduces latency that brings the function to it's knees.
Yep, this won't work .. Are the arps only for placing on a prerecorded track?

what the hell.. it's such a simple plugin. why doesn't it work properly?

due to the fact it goes out of sync when you have the record button on, that also means that you can't tweak any filters or anything while playing.

Hi Michael and thanks for that, unfortunately for me it didn't work.

I'm curious if other users have better luck. Please comment..

Hi there, thanks for the support, for me it did work

I am still on 10.4.11 though.

p.s.

just upgraded to .4 and a project which was at an avg of 45% CPU now runs under 30.
Dunno what they did, but it worked. :D

Thanks for replying Jabbon.

I've applied the "Options.text to 8.1.3 and didn't notice any change in the arp reaction. (Still delays)
Are you saying that it fixed your arp problem? I'm only asking because you specifically mention CPU?

No, it had nothing to do with CPU.
It was the improbability of having the arpeggiator start in sync, which meant a stability in tempo, but not a syncronicity in attack, giving really unpleasent results.
Now I get it to start in sync - triggering, even when I am not precise is happening in sync with the main timeline.

The CPU comment was because I was just trying out the .4 version and I was amazed by how much less avg CPU usage I got in a running project I had in .3

Thanks for replying.

Unfortunately I'm still completely out of sync.
I'm running OS X 6.4 on a new Intel Core i7. The computer kicks butt, I Just can't figure it out.
I'm in touch with support and will report back if we get it nailed down.
