Midi controller rewiring problem

Post by harrygreenwood » Tue Jul 13, 2010 7:49 pm

Ok, i use ableton for my Djing. I have a basic setup, a novation launchpad for my FX and triggering cuts and an m-audio x-seesion pro for my EQing and Crossfading ETC.
Im considering Buying a midi controller with platter/jog wheels for scratching, looping and generally more dedicated control.

My main problem is a big issue; the fact that i cant obviously scratch or use some other basic functions in live, however most controllers come with dedicated software. The problem is that live is much better to use all of my equipment with. Especially with it's midi mapping mode. I know about Rewiring so that i could send outputs from live to the external program/dedicated software. Then work on the signal.

Some of the ones i looked at were the M-audio's torq with the x-ponent, The Nu-mark stealth or omni control with Mixmeister, The hercules range with Traktor or VDJ (not a fan of VDJ though)
and the Vestax VCI 300 or 100 with serato.

Im in massive need of help from someone who knows the deal.

Thanks :)

You could sample your scratching into audio clips. Then you could turn the quantize of those clips to 'none' then you could trigger the clips of the scratching samples live on your launchpad. Just an idea.

Cheers,
Bill.
