Arrangement to Session question

Post by robyale » Sat Jul 17, 2010 3:01 am

I'm new to Live 8 and I'm wondering what the correct way to bring tracks recorded in the Arrangment window, into the Session window. Suppose I've make an audio recording on track one, and then a midi recording in track two. Now I want to deal with those tracks in the Session paradigm.

Thank you,

Rob

Simply drag the audio or midi clip from the arrange window to the right side of the page, and onto the arrange/session icon, ignore the mouse icon turning into a "no entry" symbol, the window flips round, then you can place your clip into a session slot. If when toggling between views your clip becomes greyed out and you have no audible sound, at the top in the transport section a icon lights up red, this is back to arrange (so both audio/midi clips don't play)..just click on it.
Hope this helps

Thank you, all who replied.

Live requires a complete reboot of my entire writing process, but I like the direction it's pushing me! At this point, it looks like I'm going to do the actual writing in Live and Reason, and then reorganize/remix the pieces in Live. When I'm done with the writing part, I'll export the audio files to Cubase and do the final mix.

copy (from arrangement) and paste (to session) also works.

Just out of curiosity why would you do the final mix in cubase?

Thanks
