APC 40 question

Noob question...Anyone know why I can't remap my apc40 controls?? I go to midi map, click on the tempo box, move the cue level knob, and it doesnt remap! What the fun?? Ive tried all the controls. No remapping...

turn the remote switches on for your input and output on the apc in the midi preferences
