Timur insisted he wasn't lying about his claims on Ableton and still maintains that at other sites such as Gearslutz where he is very active, he wouldn't let the issue drop, so Ableton dropped HIM.

I suppose in reflection it was fair enough banning him, although some of what has been posted on here in recent times is arguably as worthy of warning with further consequences for repeat offending of banning.

Well, I don't know about the Timur situation, so whatever. But implying he was banned for less, because he didn't swear, is not something I find agreeable.

Your opinion on what is ban worthy or not isn't really resonating with me either, surprise surprise.

so if a kid shows his ass in school do the students have to create a request that he is punished or do the teachers just punish the kid?

i've never been into the tattling thing, you'll have to enlighten me. i always have considered my self caught/busted/out-the-game and taken my licks. i would think that getting banned from a forum is something you could do without direct help/requests.

It's Ableton's site not ours, so they can do what they want. They have rules and have allowed a fair number of us to breach them several hundred times before they came after us. This is no knee jerk reaction on their behalf, and in the past, Timur was banned for less on this forum.

Most other forums do not allow personal attacks, trolling and require serial codes or dongle code registration to be part of their forum and would have locked and deleted this thread over a dozen pages ago. Steinberg come straight to mind, I know of at least 7 bannings this year at cubase.net and they have locked or deleted HUNDREDS of threads. They don't even allow political or religious discussion, period. People who find that makes a dull forum go elsewhere.

Like Dennis said, there are OTHER Ableton Live forums on the web, or you can start one and apply your own rules if you don't like this one.

Well I've been at Cubase, made a 1500 posts there, been at Nerg too and eventually it was the same guys telling you the same story over and over again. That got boring too.

The current Cubase forum is dead, a couple of old farts still there talking about how to compress their bonfire guitar music.

Its good to moderate if there's real mean people on your forum with the only goal to sabotage everything.

For the rest I would say live and let live.

DeSantis sent me a pm some time ago to warn me that it is not tolerated to use phrases that describe oral interaction with your mother.

One could say hilaric but in fact really pathetic.

There's a billion dollar music industry out there running on the words "yo motherfucker".

I say words like "slur" and "political correctness" are just tools towards full allignment with a totalitarian internet regime.

If you don't like it, you're more than welcome to start an Ableton forum at 4chan or something.

Ableton decide whom or what is worthy of a caution or beyond that banning. This is THE most relaxed forum I've ever seen.

Given that they've hardly banned anyone ever from the forums in 10 years tells you a lot about those who have had this dubious 'badge of honour' bestowed upon them. Ableton's opinion is the only relevant one as far as I'm concerned on the topic, and I am glad we can express opinions regardless of whether it's agreeable or not, 99.9% of the time without intervention.

Other sites are what you make them - cubase.net might not be relevant for you, but I find it OK.

There is no need to employ metaphors when discussing the events that take place on an internet forum.
If you find you need one, then perhaps your argument isn't all that relevant or strong.
