None of them were really styles of music that I'd normally dance to, play out or listen to be honest. But that's just a personal taste thing, not a criticism. Anyway my order of preference is probably Voyager (quite a nice early morning house vibe), Quadrant (some nice touches, but the synth line didn't grab me), Bang The Box and finally Continuum (which was a way behind the others).
But don't take my word for it. I'm invariably at odds with popular opinion.

hey ct,
voyager i liked the best, specially the groove going on at 3:40. from a creative view the bass and pad go together real well, but during the first half the lead synth plays some odd notes, i hear some major thirds and augmented fifths over minor chords...theres nothing wrong with this using them as passing tones, but they are just being held there quite prodominantly.
of course that is my opinion, i just happen to have an ear that likes voicings to sound at ease, but that's not neccesarily correct, either. the beauty of music is that you can do whatever you want with it and nothing is truly incorrect. but in order to sell it, it has to sound good to others, not just yourself. once you are a big shot you can get away with murder, but to get there you have to please the masses.
i also enjoyed quadrant and bang the box, and continuum would be a tough tune to dance to, though. perhaps can use a little more rythym somehow. that's if you are intending it to be a dance club tune.
overall good work. keep it up, and things will pay off.

hello JT... so you liked Voyager the most.. thanks for that.. it will be interesting if others think the same as you about the lead synth.
I agree completely that production takes lots of time & effort, I dont do my own mastering though, I just dont feel comfortable doing it..
BTW Continuum is 100% a home listening / chill out tune.. I cant imagine anyone dancing to it
Cheers
Carl.

What can I say Carl. All of your tracks are Ace
I like all of them but I reckon Bang The Box yanks my chain a little more than the rest.
Would have been nice if you had some more comments from our fellow Live users as your stuff is really really Top notch. Maybe a sunday isnt a music day for many..
BTW, I have sent you a PM regarding a Remix I would like you to do for a forth coming release called 'Mirage'. Thers a Umek remix, a couple from me and It would be great if you were up for doing it.
Cheers

just thought id say, my motivation for doing this was to try and get an idea of which of my different styles appeals to people the most + ive done this on different types of forums (techie / gear ones + techno / clubbing) because I was thinking that maybe different types of people would like different tracks, and maybe the reactions would confirm this.... im not looking for ego boosting comments, as that is not my style & I do not need them. Maybe you guys dont like the fact that im doing market research on the cheap, I dunno.. I would have though the internet was a ideal place for this kind of thing though..

Carl,
i like Quadrant the most. Its the kinda track that can fit in lots of different places and mixes musically. It could be the track that finally gets people dancing at a club thats only half full and everyone's too shy to get down, or it can be the track that keeps people moving at 7 a.m. when they should probably be going home.
and the little percussive stabs and metallic cymbal lines speak to the side of my heart that still loves the late 80's Warp Records catalog.
well done mate
