Moving a Chain Selector with Buttons

Post by udbhav » Fri Jul 30, 2010 9:14 am

I have a giant instrument rack with all of my softsynths. I want to switch from song to song by using the chain selector, but don't like a rotary encoder. I tried setting up dummy clips, but I don't want to have a separate clip for each song. Ideally, the clip should keep incrementing by 1, so if I run the clip twice, and the chain started at 1, it'll end up at 3. But it just stays at 2.

Any ideas on the best way to do this?

I don't know how to control the chain selector with 2 buttons (one for up and one for down) but another way to control it is to use a "range" of keys on a keyboard or pads like an LPD8 or the ones built into many keyboards like my MPK49.
Each key or pad will correspond to a step in the chain.
I just tested it out

I mapped the orange chain selector to Macro 1
I had five items in the chain so I pressed CTRL+M and
clicked on Macro 1
Held down pad #1 while also pressing pad #5
Now Macro 1 is mapped to C3:G3
Each pad will now select a different part of the chain
