How many Elektron users here?
How many Elektron users here?
Ever since taking delivery of the MD, I've loved every minute of playing with it. I wouldn't use it exclusively for beats, but a lot of my latest stuff was done on it.
Who else here sees the benefit of using hardware, especially Elektrons? Or do you prefer other drum machines?

Re: How many Elektron users here?
i recently bought a MD UW+, it is awesome !
I use it only for rythms, with some synths (JX 3P, MFB Kraftzwerg). I am waiting for a sh-101 in the mail, and I think I'll go for a Dark energy and a Prophet 08.
Looking forward for the Octatrack, too...
I never played live with the MD yet. I still don't know which way to chose : trigger patterns on the MD or from live, use song mode, etc...

Got a Machinedrum, love it.
It seems to take a while to get really good sounds out of it and I'm still learning, but the usability is just great, I now pretty much tweak and record the basis of my tracks live from the MD into Ableton Live then flesh them out in Ableton. I just use MID machines to control synths (my hardware synth and Operators and Simplers in Live), no pissing about with clock synchronising etc, just make sure the tempo's set right when using delays etc in Live.
I'd maybe look into getting the UW upgrade at some point, seemed like a lot of money for not much memory though.

Yes, I also use it as a basis, but now, I've started using just this, recording finished jams (such as http://soundcloud.com/encym/caffeine-drummer)simonlb wrote:Got a Machinedrum, love it.

Other times, I do it like you: just editing snippets that I've recorded (example: http://soundcloud.com/encym/aimless-darkness, just the rhythmic elements).
I am surprised how well textures/pads can be done on the MD.

I have MonoMachine, still learning to use that beast though
Re: How many Elektron users here?
Wow - those look amazing! Very expensive though . . . I guess I'll just continue enjoying my humble Electribe es-1. Nice to know where the horizon is placed though.
Re: How many Elektron users here?
I use a UW Mk2 alongside a Mk1 MnM and love them both.
The amount of possibilities this 'drum machine' provides is staggering! I'm currently syncing both Elektrons to Maschine (standalone), which is a lot of fun but more and more often the laptop doesn't get booted up.

MD UW MK2 user over here.
They are real lookers too, typically most people who come to my studio go straight for the MD and instantly want to play with it.

That money is WELL worth the 2.5MB memory you get, you can do a TON with it.

Yep - have an MD - thinking of selling it - part of a general hardware studio clear out
Really like the machine, but just finding I can do more with software and Im getting alot of the live flavour of the MD from the M4L devices Im developing.

Nothing to see here - move along!

I find it has really expanded my sound. Makes me think about beat production, and also sounds/noises, differently than before.
The only problem is: It sits idly far too often.
