Motu Ultralite MK3, do you rate it?
I'm looking at getting either an MK3 or MK1 for OSX 10.5.8.
I've heard conflicting reports, some say it's amazing but then I hear of driver compatibility issues with OSX.
How do you rate yours

I have a mk1, osx 10.6 live 8, no issues. they usually go for $300 ebay.

i have a mk3 and i love it! never had a problem with it, has flexible routing, has great built in eq, compressor and limiter. it's nice that you can run system audio through it to eq, compress, reverb, limit, i.e. (youtube, itunes, other random shit). oh yeah and when i hooked it up to my monitors they got a shit ton louder and cleaner sounding without clipping them.

I have a MK3. It sounds great, and the drivers (on Windows at least) are stable and fast. The only issue I have is the routing software, which I find really confusing to use. It's a little too easy to toggle a button and have audio suddenly come out at ear- and monitor-damaging volumes. I often have no idea what's going to happen when I change monitoring settings

I used one with DP alongside with a Traveler for a multitrack recording. It worked well either solo or as a aggregate device. The band I work with, use mk3 for real time multitrack audio playback and for MIDI interface for keys. Its rock solid on stage or in the studio. I also tested it at 10.5 and 10.6

There's actually a problem with the Hybrid and bus-power with the latest MacbookPros. There's not enough power for the Ultralite to work correctly. This doesn't happen with the original one. MOTU is aware of this and rumour is we'll need a firmware upgrade to fix this.

Ive had this issue too but we need to just learn the cuefx software properly!buffportion wrote:I have a MK3. It sounds great, and the drivers (on Windows at least) are stable and fast. I have a non-hybrid MK3 on OSX 10.5.8 and well... its good, haven't had any problems with it and it sounds good...
not the best card I've heard but in most situations where i use it i probably wouldn't hear that much of a difference either way so...
its grate if you need the inputs

I still rock the mk1 and have had zero problems with it, bought in 2007 from guitar center. I don't plan on upgrading until it dies.
