Numark Mixtrack for Traktor

Post by caaflex » Wed Aug 04, 2010 8:25 pm

Not really sure where to put this because it doesn't pretain to music production or ableton, so if it needs to be moved then by all means move it.

Wondering if anyone on here that also uses Traktor has got their hands on a Numark Mixtrack yet. Looks like a solid controller for the price range. No built in audio card but wouldn't expect one for $150. From what I've read there has been a lot of hype around the platters and they are supposed to be leaps and bounds better than what the Hercules or similar budget controllers offer. I believe they are the same platters from the Ion Discovery? Anyway, here's some info on it. Probably going to snag one this afternoon.

I've heard about it from a friend but never actually saw it.

Looks pretty sick. Anything on how much it will be or when it will be released? It looks like a thousand dollar controller but probably worth it.

I picked up one of these Mixtracks last night and I'm VERY happy with it. It's layout is perfect for Traktor and the stock mappings are great. Only downside is you can only control 2 decks and one effect per deck at a time and no built in soundcard. But hey, for $135 I'm more than happy with it, easily the best value in it's price range. I was just looking for something to use at home since I don't have CDJs anymore and got bored mixing in ableton. The platters on this thing are top knotch too, leaps and bounds better than the Hercules platters. They actually feel a lot like a CDJ platter and have a decent mass to them. They don't feel cheap at all.

When the new Traktor software and that controller comes out my credit card will probably be getting a work out!

Speculation is $1,000 because it's called a "system" but I think that's a little high considering Maschine with hardware with LCD displays and software is $600. Maybe if the Traktor controller has an audio interface built into it, but the video also shows an external NI interface so I don't know. Maybe they'll release 2 versions, 1 with an audio interface and 1 without.

Sadly after a long, long time of waiting just a few months ago I caved in and bought the custom VCI-100SE from DJ Techtools because it seemed like it was the best option for Traktor so far….and then this gets announced. :x

Yeah no way I'd drop that much on that controller. Hopefully it's in the $500-$600 range, or even cheaper.

Have you used the Kontrol X1? I'm looking for a controller that I can use for just effects that can adequately control 3 chained sound fx w/a on/off toggle button and a dry/wet knob and then the parameter knob for each effect. Wondering if the X1 can do that.

edit* redundant post is redundant.

I haven't used one but it sounds like it's pefect for what you need. I'm the exact opposite in my needs. I was severely disappointed when they released that because it's essentially just an effects controller and I wanted something like they are releasing soonish...the whole package.

I have a Kontrol X1, it's a nice box, excellent choice to use along side a traditional DJ mixer.

I bought it a bit over a month ago, about 7 days before my son was born. I've spent all of about 2 hours total on the thing, so I am afraid I can't speak much for it beyond the basic mappings and the build quality - both of which are great btw.

I haven't gotten very deep with it yet, but I do eye it longingly as I pass by my DJ rig on my trips upstairs to fetch diapers, wipes, or burp clothes form the nursery. I am thinking I will have some time to mess with it in about 18 years, so I'll get back to you then.

You don't have to wait that long. Just contact this guy for some music and parenting tips.

Mind telling us what you are talking about? There's several controllers mentioned in this thread.

Is there a controller that you like the jogs on?

And damn man, did your eyes just go straight to those wheels and completely miss all the other juicy goodness about the controller? :)

 yep my eyes did go straight to those wheels but I looked at the other stuff right after that, it's just that depending on who the user is of course that the basics really need to be covered when it comes to a controller especially in this day and age. we're all past the point where the oxygen 8 blew our minds. I like the size of the jog on the vestax vci 300
maybe my eyes are playin tricks on me and it's the same size but it looks smaller, what I would really like is the size of the ns7, like a 45 at least
