Re: The Maschine & Ableton Love Thread ;) [upon user request]
Hey, I've just received the Maschine !
Funny, on the box, it's written 1.5, and the manual 1.5...
on the CD, it's c2010
But actually the version that it's installed is 1.0.3
Hopefully I got the last hardware though with the snap and auto write button instead of F1/F2 (no big deal anyway...)
I got two things to says :
- The service center, what the hell ? either it can't connect to the update server, and gives me an error, or either it tells me that my product are all update (which is not true...).
- Can't turn off the maschine
. no power button, screens won't shut down.
So what am I supposed to do, I wonder if leaving it on forever is going to damage the two LCD screen...
Downloading the updates right now, can't wait to play with it

leave it on... it will only shut down when you have USB ports that shout down the power when the comp is asleep / off...

Hey what about the service center ?
I had to download the update myself, cause I have this message in the service center : server communication error : received data are of unknown format.
I had a reply from the support, I deleted it and reinstall with the latest version, still the same error. It's no big deal , but do you have the same problem as well ?

Re: The Maschine & Ableton Love Thread ;) [upon user request]
all right, I really like maschine, I'm practicing right now, I'm absolutly not familiar with MPC or drums maschines, but it's really fun so far, two days ago, I felt I was a total noob, like when I started Live, but right now I already feel much confortable with it. It's really easy to learn.
Just wondering something : for the rendering audio from patterns using drag & drop, how can you choose is you want to render as .wav or .aiff
In the manual they say you choose according to the options in the export audio settings. I dont find thoses options. weird.

OH MY GOD!
i stopped by the forum to see if i really need Maschine as far as i have APC40.. and a love topic 38 pages long!! WOW!
i'm not convinced though. i work as an advertiser, and this smells advertising =)
so, i went through some videos and some info but (call me a noob) i totally didn't understand what the heck Maschine is about. it says:
it's a DAW: sampler, sequencer, effects and a fully tagged 6 GB sound library! OK, i have the father of DAWs (Live 8 Suite)
it's a midi controller! OK, i have the mother of midi controllers (APC40)
it's a drumpad! Well, i use a nativekontrol patch for the APC40 so i can use it as a drumpad too, only it's not velocity sensitive.
8 outputs! What is this, a soundcard? if so, i have one already.
also i see people using Maschine is generally producing in the hip-hop and RnB genre. i'm totally not into that but as far as i know the MPC series and such are generally associated with that kind of music (call me noobest)
anyways, please tell me anything except than "this friggin Maschine is so damn sexy" so that i'll spend my 600EUR in relief. what you guys really do with it? in live performance especially. is it really worth to buy it even if you have an APC40.
thanks.

So as unpopular as this decision might be, I sold Maschine bought an mpc1000, mixer, and am staying hardware based for the most part. To each his own.
Ableton 9, Feeltune Rhizome, Focusrite Pro, Mpk249....

there def isn't a wrong choice, I had several mpcs before I got maschine, and got another mpc a couple of weeks ago a mpc 2500, after which I sold my mpc 1000, still have maschine and still love it
neither maschine or the mpc are going anywhere. They feel like two different instruments to me.

what i like about maschine the most: that i can use it at the same time someone else is composing in live.
that's right: 2 people working on a song at the same time, 1 live set, 1 computer
it's because i can control everything relating to maschine from the maschine box
also, easy for me to sample/chop what the other person is doing in live. and, of course, it's easy for them to sample me, if they want to.
all of this without stopping the master clock.

hey dude, that's interesting, on which software are you running the master clock ? I use Maschine as a standalone, use its time clock and connect live on it. I use Jack osx to connect the 8 outputs to Live.andrewbrewer wrote:what i like about maschine the most: that i can use it at the same time someone else is composing in live.
