RMX is good too... good sounds to work with..

PSP MixPack has been rocking me lately. Lots of control there, and also lots of Warmth. I stopped using Vintage Warmer once i got MixPack, i feel it gives me even more control.

and Sonic Charge µTonic. Dirt cheap with an amazing sound.

and yea all the great freebies listed at KVR. on PC there was the Superwave P8 which was a decent JP8000 emulation, and useful. Lots of great AU's for free on MacOS as well, like Urs Heckman's Zoyd, and Alphakanal's Automat and Buzzer2.

but really it can all be found at KVR.
I'm getting plug-in'd out, just using Automat, µTonic, and FX lately.

I am also a huge fan of Symtohm:Melohman. Original concept, the best filters, not trying to simulate old synths.

I think atmosphere sucks big time. It has rompler written all over it.

But...it...IS...a...rompler... :?:

Anyway, I second Absynth/Reaktor. A cheaper but very capable VST is Wusikstation from wusik.com. They have a group buy now for $49 I think (they have some sort of constant group buy...).

I still like Vintage Warmer on acoustic instruments even prior to mastering. I agree, though, that MixPack is better for the mix, and I will save VW for mastering.

I just suggest Atmosphere if your into all types of music... I find it really useful in trip hop, hip hop, drum and bass and some techno if you mod the sounds correctly.. But this is all IMO... but then again I am still new and have not got exposed to the other ones that have been mentioned earlier..

Im drunk

what I mean is that I could often hear the (very excellent) sounds being pitched a lot due to VERY bad synth engine programming or lack of multisampling. So it has that early/mid-nineties orchestra stab rompler sound going on... urgh. Pity, since they've obviously put a lot of work into getting the basic sounds going.

A lot of good suggestions here :)
The VSTis that I myself use most with Live are;
Absynth
Reaktor
Tera 2- an absolutely amazing synth
Symptohm : Melohman
White Noise- I like all the White Noise synths; they're all very good and unique sounding. WNAdditive is the easiest of the additives to come to grips with IMO; Doppelmangler is a truly sick resynthesis tool, and ZeroVector is a great VA with a couple tricks up its sleeve.

Before you go bearking the Bank account these would be my "must have" donationware/freeware list -

DMI - Foorius
UGO - Texture , Motion , String Theory
KarmaFX - KarmaFX Modular
Antii - Asynth
Concrete FX - Rock & Ensembler
Toda - Synth 1
PolyIblit
Superwave P8
Audiomulch
PlogueBidule

Payware -

Kubik
Fm7
Absynth (great demo may buy it one day)
Reason 3
Energy XT

Though I'd swear by FM-7 + Kubik (with those two Absynth is a tad redundant sonicly IMHO) .
Reason 3 is also great bang for the buck.

That list would be more than enough for a good productive work output.
Especially when combined with Live even without the payware for what it's worth.
My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....
