Just picked up this baby after 7 years with a 2003 Pentium 4 3.4 with 1 gig of RAM. It's like going from a rusted moke to a BMW lol. Would love to see what this baby does with 8GB of RAM and a 7200 drive.
But very happy with this performance..

I get my iMac i7 with 8 gig of RAM tomorrow. Apparently it is up to 120% faster than the MBP i7.
Can't wait

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here
ok.....so we all did our tests and as we can see there are some people that although they have some good fast machines the CPU is sky high for an 8 track project!!!
is there a purpose to this???
is anybody contacted by ableton and try to fix it???
what's the point!!!

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here
around here, Live is known for quite high CPU usage compared to other DAW's.
It's the price you pay for "everything can be manipulated everytime in realtime".
You have to deal with that.point.

It's useful for a few reasons:theoriva wrote:ok.....so we all did our tests and as we can see there are some people that although they have some good fast machines the CPU is sky high for an 8 track project!!!

- comparing performance on new versions of Live using same hardware to see if there's any big performance issue
- checking other people's results on similar hardware to yours before you decide to move from an earlier version of Live
- checking that your performance is roughly in line with what other people get, in case of performance problems
- checking the effect of upgrading different hardware components e.g. CPU, HD speed, on the Live performance

don't forget that it also shows us overpriced pieces of shit like the Mac Pro are pretty useless for most, if not all, of what we do!
