Upgrade install. Took me 15 to 20 minutes without installing the printer crap and languages i don't use.Mbazzy wrote:Just wondering, upgrade install or backup and clean install ?
Almost all apps work as before. The mac feels faster. Spotlight kicks ass.
Even those widgets are useful and have allot of potential.
Vlc media player acts a bit funny. But thats the least of my worry's.
Seriously, tiger made pc/mac debate's obsolete.
There is no question which is better now
(sorry, couldn't resist)
that's because you just pee'd in it.hoffman2k wrote: Jump in, the water is warm.....
Tiger is great. It will make your Mac feel about 15-20% faster because the GUI has been tweaked so much in this OS release. Even older G4's are seeing big improvements and some G3's as well. Most AU and VST plugins will run a little more effeciently also.
I'm a clean install man myself. Have been testing it on an external HD since Sunday and i'll be cloning that to the internal HD this week. All my plugins are compatible, with exception to the Arturia stuff not working in standalone mode (plugins work great tho). Everything is GRAVY!
Other tips ive learned if your using OSX specifically for music is optimize as much as possible. Do a clean custom install an install only what you truly need example avoid font languages, printer support, ETC. Once you install go to Applications/ultilities/Disk ultilities app/repair disk permissions. As you install each application or upgrade repeat the same process by repairing your permissions. Checking each application and hardware drivesr for the latest upgrade for Tiger is another smart move. Some of these application and plugins would include Korg Legacy, NI, IcedAudio Audiofinder, BIAS PEAK, Samplemanager, and MOTU so far.
