just had a play around. Seems there are a few modes for playing live sets in serato.

You can sync to either deck and this seems to be the most reliable way to get good syncing. It works really well for playing live clips over tracks

You can also load an ableton track into a deck and then mix your .als in.

Serato (like Traktor) has employed beat grids for the syncing process. With the tracks I used the beat grids appear automatically and were accurate

Using my midi controller I could bring clips in and out and control effects. The selected fx unit appears in the serato window.

Scratching ableton live sets didnt seem to work so well, in fact there is no audio on the pull back. That is no audio plays when the ableton set is reversed.

Pretty exciting stuff. I like the way when synced the ableton set will continue to play after a track has finished. You can then push a button and sync to the track on the other deck.

Didnt get a chance to play with Mixtape but you will need a rane mixer to get the most out of that. Should be awesome for scratch dj's wanting to record their set.

...

It is due to transport control. If ableton implement clip transport control and reverse audio... maybe someday you could scratch clips.

Meanwhile go maxforlive and Ms. Pinky.

Thanks, this is a major deal-breaker for me.

I pretty much assumed you could, this takes away half the fun of it for me.

I could've swore they said you *could* scratch Live clips, too bad..

I wonder if this will actually be addressed before the alpha release.
