Hello!
I have so much love for my livesets / racks that it's important I keep them as nice and clean as possible. Like, if I notice my Compressor threshold is set to -21.7 dB I'll immediately correct it to -22 dB. But this becomes quite tiresome in the long run.
Would it be possible with a "Snap to nearest whole number" feature? (similar to the "Snap to nearest pixel" in Adobe apps for instance)

Is it extra complexity adding a function that would simplify things? I mean, good design is about taking something which is complex and making it simple. The decimal number, to me at least, has absolutely no effect on my sound (it's just there to make my racks look messy), so it might as well be gone, you know?

I actually empathise though because i have similar weird OCD habits that are complete placebo, but still somehow satisfying. I think it's called "moon in virgo" or something like that……
I like to make things multiples of 3 whenever possible (i.e. if there is a choice between 2.8 and 2.7 then I will make it 2.7….. but then 3 is actually a significant number in the world of decibels, to do with doubling or halving in volume….or at least that's what I tell myself!
there have been experiments done that showed very few people can tell the difference between increments of less than 1dB though. of course that would be probably in SPL though, there are definitely numbers less than that that would be significant for instruments and FX plug-ins in the world of dBFS, just saying if you're talking straight volume we are in the realms of placebo….
but I wouldn't expect Ableton to add things to the program on account of my own little neuroses, although some of the thousands of posts I've made in the wishlist forum over the years may look different to others… I'm, sure I've made my fair share of OCD oriented ones!
