padKontrol latency

Post by bobland » Thu Aug 26, 2010 8:17 pm

Ableton has recognized my padKontrol right off the bat. However, the latency is very excessive. Searched threads but didn't find anything.

Anyone have a solution? I'm using the eval copy. My CPU is i7-920 with 6GB on fast HD.

Thanks,
Burt

It's all due to your soundcard.

Don't have a sound card. Using ASIO4ALL. Seems OK with my Oxygen49 so I assumed it's OK for padKontrol. No?

Oh snap. I'm on Mac and can't do troubleshooting on PCs. What exactly are you trying to do with your pK when the latency appears?

You don't have it plugged into a USB hub, do you? Try plugging it into the computer directly.

It's plugged in directly. The latency feels like half second.

Try playing some very light simpler preset with it. Do you still get the latency?

if you don't have a soundcard Live isn't going to be much fun to use, is it?

it's your sound card, increase your sample rate, lower your buffer sizes. google phrases like "DAW optimasation guide for PCs", "DAW hardware latency", "computer latency" etc.

In Reaper there is no latency. All my problems seem to focus around Omnisphere. Omnisphere won't let me use the padKontrol in Reaper and it doesn't seem to let me use it at all in Ableton. However, I imagine this is a matter of tweaks which I don't know about.

Fixed! I forget to enable the ASIO drivers. Now the padKontrol works like a dream.
