in general eu citizens have the right to live and work in other eu countries, but you've still got to be aware of any administrative rules that may exist around tax, registering as a resident or being there temporarily just for work etc. best place to get information will probably be the british embassy in ireland website.

I’m pretty sure you have the “right” to work and live wherever you want in the EU as en EU citizen.
But there’s still a lot of paperwork involved for taxes, etc. They won’t turn you down but you’ll still have to get in touch with the host country’s authorities.

We once turned up at the door of Ireland to play a gig (couple of non-EU Kiwis), we'd been assured we didn't need work permits by the promoter, man at immigration says we do. A 15 min wait follows during which he telephones the promoter in Dublin, assesses the he isn't Paul McGuinness or someone at that level - he's just a student putting on a gig in a pub. Mr Immigration man says, direct quote: "Eh now, I'm not that much of a bastard yet." and lets us in.

I'm guessing not much.
this. and in some countries those rules can be nigh on impossible to circumnavigate if not adhere to.trevorc wrote:in general eu citizens have the right to live and work in other eu countries, but you've still got to be aware of any administrative rules that may exist around tax, registering as a resident or being there temporarily just for work etc. best place to get information will probably be the british embassy in ireland website.

I'm guessing not much.
My house is in Austria.
I lived in the south of Italy for one year.
I had a houseboat in Amsterdam for two years.
I lived in a commune in Germany for several month.
I was working in Sweden.
And you Mr. guessing?
Re: OT: As I am a British citizen 'part of the EU' do I need a..
lived and worked *legally* in ireland, holland, spain, basque, england, france
I also lived and worked *illegally* so I know both sides of the coin.
for example: in holland no legal job without a registered address and dutch bank account, no registered address without a legal job and bank account, no bank account without a legal job and registered address. Have fun maneuvering around that one fellow europeans!
you might as well wipe your ass with the EU charter.
you gave shit advice to the OP, whilst trevorc hit the nail on the head.
case closed.
