Ableton Dj Set - Easy Way To Equalize Track Volume?

Post by M6live » Mon Aug 30, 2010 7:30 am

Hey guys.

If I have imported a collection of tracks into live for the purpose of a dj set, what is an easy way I could go about equalizing maximum volume (in terms of physical location on a fader and decibel) for all of the tracks at a given volume cap. In other words, how can I have it so that Volume A's Fader in maximum value (in physical location and decibel) is equal to that of Volume B Faders in Maximum Value (in terms of physical location and decibel)?

equal volume tracks at max volume fader levels for deck a and b

i think what you want to do is two things...

a. ensure that each track is roughly balanced volume-wise, by going into the track's waveform and adjusting the volume there.

b. put a utility plugin on each channel, with -6db on each, so when you push your control surface faders all the way up, the tracks don't clip.

mp3 gain works cause it doesn't have to do anything with Live. It processes mp3 files offline.

mp3gain is a software volume equalizer. the reason i thought that it may not work is due to the nature of how it tags a file. i was not sure if ableton would be able to read that tag or not.

check it out: http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/
