My APC40 is not recognized by Ableton
My APC40 is not recognized by Ableton
I am using a Dell Precision M20 computer with Ableton 8.0.4. My problem is that Ableton seems to not recognize my APC 40. When it is plugged in, my computer recognizes it as "new hardware", or whatever the message is, but when I go to the MIDI Sync tab in preferences of Ableton, the Input section is shaded and so there is no option of choosing an input source. The output section on the other hand is not shaded, but my APC 40 is not in the drop down bar. I am wondering what I should do so that Ableton will recognize my APC 40.

That's weird. Is the APC40 definitely in the resources/user remote scripts folder?
Edit; i really should learn to read! Have you tried reinstalling the driver? Odd that there's no input and the output is not available.

I haven't reinstalled the driver but I got it so there are at least input options, but it says "USB Device" and when I activate that it shows "APC40(USB DEVICE)" under MIDI ports and the only option for output is "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" which when activated puts "APC40 (Microsoft GS..etc)" and yet there is still no response from my controller and Ableton. I have messed with the Track, Sync, and remote on/off switches and still nothing.

Re: My APC40 is not recognized by Ableton
Just to clarify, under control surface you can select the apc40 but it's not available unser input and output? It should just say 'APC40' in each box. Sounds like an issue with the way the driver's installed or maybe there is a bug with an earlier version... 8.1.5 seems to be super stable and i've had no issues with the APC20, it's worked straight otb.

thanks, but i found another thread and managed to figure it out. A couple files, i think driver files, were named wrong and so when I renamed them correctly it was recognized easily.
