Is there a plugin or a max patch or something that can take audio coming in at a certain amplitude, and trigger a MIDI event when it happens? For example, if I had a kick drum miced up, whenever I hit the kick, the plugin would send a MIDI signal.
The application is that you could accompany your drumkit with electronic sounds. It would also be useful to trigger something like a distortion effect when you sing at a certain volume. I guess this plugin would be sort of like a gate.
Plugin that converts incoming audio to MIDI?

Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, you might wanna think about sidechaining a gate. put the gate on the synth sound sidechained to the kick drum, so that when it hits it opens the gate and lets the synth sound thru.
you could also extract the groove from a kick drum track, that gets you the midi

Ah, that would work for audio effects. It would take some creative routing.danabus wrote:Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, you might wanna think about sidechaining a gate. put the gate on the synth sound sidechained to the kick drum, so that when it hits it opens the gate and lets the synth sound thru.

(Unfortunately, I'm still using 6.
