I didn't notice this back in the days of Live 6 but for the past couple of years i've noticed how awful beats mode sounds when using polyphonic material, especially on full tracks with vocals. It ducks horribly. Is this right? I've noticed it for a good while now as I said but i'm sure this wasn't always the case. When listening to mixes I done years ago on Live 6 in beats mode it sounds much better than it does now i'm using Live 8. I've been through 4 sound cards in that time and 2 full versions of Live so i'm not putting it down to a hardware issue.
Any ideas?
I always just use Complex Pro mode now which fixes the issue but does dull the transients which is annoying.
I can post up a sample if need be?
Edit: I've worked out the issue partly, it's transients mode that makes it sound so poor. If I set it to 1/16 it's a vast improvement, which explains the Live 6 to 7/8 difference. Alos, setting it to Hi-Q is better.
