hey dear community,
i recently have issues with my axiom 25 (not the newest one). whenever i start up live, the infinite knobs are kind of auto-assigned to the track volume faders. when i turn B1 on my keyboard, the first track fader moves in one direction. turning it the other way around the fader at first still moves in the same direction, afterwards it moves back. this still happens even when i assign the knobs to other functions. the midi-map-list is empty and (i think) i didn't change any settings. the keyboard is set up as an axiom 25/axiom 25 midi in/axiom 25 midi out with track and remote turned on. i just tried to solve the problem by installing the latest drivers, but this didn't change anything. additionally, i uploaded/dumped the ableton axiom preset to my keyboard. what can i try next?
win7 64bit
live 8.1.5
axiom 25
apc 40
thank you in advance

Axiom 25 - curious auto-assignments
Re: Axiom 25 - curious auto-assignments
Hi,
it seems you are running Axiom as a Control Surface. In that case Live automatically maps the knobs etc. To have this working You need Enigma and set-up the Axiom to a specified configuration. There are about twenty templates and two of them are designed for Live. The difference is in the behavior of the infinity rotary knobs: one template uses them as infinitive, the other one simulates the "regular" ones.
I hope I remember it correctly. Personally I'm not using anything as a Control Surface, but have tried in past.
It seems the auto-map is slightly incompatible with custom-map.
If you configure your Axiom in a non- Control Surface way, you will be probably able to map the knobs yourself. Once assigned, take a look at the status bar. You will mention combo box with mapping mode. There are several ways how to map the hardware controller to a Live controller depended on which values are sent by the hardware. For infinitive rotary knobs you will need to change it to something like Two-bits complement or how it is called. In other modes your knob will always reset the Live's controller or will work in a single direction only (incrementally).
Good Luck!

hey hadrabap,
firstly, thanks for your effort to give me such a detailed description. i'm sure this had helped me if i hadn't found another simpler solution for now =). i just downloaded and installed older drivers and it worked again as it worked without enigma before. gonna bookmark this thread to immediately have another solution ready if the issue returns
take care
