LIVE 4.1.2 CRASH: cannot delete midicheck.cfg

Post by pep » Mon Apr 25, 2005 10:26 pm

error message:

"Live's last program was run abnormally while to open the device (it varies, it will either say my midi controller or midi interface)
This midi device will no longer be active. In order to reactivate .. blah blah blah"

I hit OK

"cannot delete 'users/.../libary/preferences/ableton/live 4.1.2/midicheck.cfg'"

Then it crashes!

This happened right after I installed the waves platinum pack. I uninstalled waves & upgraded live since & It's still crashing ... This is extremely frustrating ... someone please help A.S.A.P .. I have projects I need to finish

p.s. - i deleted my preference.cfg file & that was no help

Thanks!

update:

I created a new audio midi setup config. & I was able to open Live but once I closed Live & tried reopening it later, I got the same error & crash as I was previously getting ... Even after I change & created new midi setups.

I'm beginning to think that it's not a problem with Live but I'm really not sure

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ...

p.s. - In apples audio midi setup if a device has a circled 'i' icon on it, what does that mean?
& also my IAC driver in the setup is dim, not sure if that relates to the problem or not

Hi pep,

I think Christian (from our support) is already in contact with you about this problem. Have you tried to delete the "Midicheck.cfg" file manually?

regards,
Alex

I couldn't wait any longer .. So I fixed it by wiping out my HD & reinstalling OSX.

p.s - the deletion of all ableton cfg files did not solve the problem

thanks for your help anyway!

Hello Pep,

If only wiping your HD & reinstalling OSX helped, i wonder if your
you did not had any errors with Apple´s Disk utility?

Best,
Christian
