setting up ableton + komplete

Post by boycey » Tue Sep 14, 2010 10:46 am

i've had ableton about a month, not played with it nearly as much as i would have liked but that's had lots to do with the limited onboard sounds. got myself komplete 7 yesterday and i'm having problems opening the synths in ableton as plugins (that's what they're for right?). what's worse is that now ableton has put itself into rewire mode and i am getting no sound out of it. :(

i am a total n00b at this, please forgive me any painfully elementary mistakes.

If The Komplete 7 instruments are not showing you may need to add the path to the plugins in LIVE. I use Komplete with Live 8.15 without any problems, as far as the rewire mode perhaps you are running the NI instruments from the desktop and then starting Ableton afterwards which will be kicking it in to rewire mode as the NI instrument has taken control of the ASIO driver?

I use the default c:\windows\VSTi Plugins folder for all the plugins for Komplete (only have 5, didn't bother with 6 and don't see a need to go to 7 at this time as I have enough in Live + K5 + Wusikstation 5 at the moment. So any time you are installing any new (free or commercial) VSTi/VST instrument put them into the default VST/Plugin folder Live is pointing to and then rescan in Live to pick up the changes and you should be good to go.
