feedback on a new track?

Post by aisling » Fri Sep 17, 2010 2:21 am

I have been listening to a lot of kraut rock lately, especially CAN.
I kind of came up with this....

Any comments, suggestions, insults?

Thanks

The track is temporarily called psychofuzz

Really solid man, nice jam rock style stuf. Similar to a lot of music i go and see live. Also gave "the saw" a listen.. reminds me of shpongle which is a very good thing.

props,

I really liked it. The groove and production is really tight and pacey and those Can influences really shine through, which is cool

I really dig the sound of your guitars! Hippy trippy grunge. Reminds a little of Hendrix in some way.

i like where its going.

that being said, if i were working on it:

1) try messing around with accenting the hi hat on the off beats when they aren't open. at the current tempo it, the straight eighths aren't jiving with me.
1.5) not sure how you recorded the drum parts, but when riding on the hi hats partially open, they could stand being a little more open. my instinct says that they need to fill a little more space

2) the percussion additions are cool, but they are a little sloppy. i think you need to keep them but warp the shit outta of them. its sorta lacking a pocket.

i'm excited to hear where it goes, keep us/me updated

Very cool feedback. I'll pay attention to the hi hat, I don't hear that yet. I agree with the percussion comment, there are a few moments where it feels sloppy. Thanks for the honesty. 8)

Difficult one on the hi hat swing, issue, the whole idea of the krautrock vibe is to keep it swing free....careful judgement required methinks.

I have given the suggestion some serious listening, I am not sure I hear the swing on the hi-hat, as of now. :?
