hello !

in my opinion :

1 :BOUNCE IN PLACE :destructive editing :because the process in live is long and boring :freeze , flatten ,unfreeze for ALL the clips on the track even if you just want to apply an fx to JUST ONE audio's clip .
not in the live 's spirit of quickness, ergonomy .
FOR ME , its the ONE and ONLY thing to complete the audio side of live .

2 : to be able to recording automations in clips in session view's request will be fantastic but apparently soo hard to program ..so maybe i shouldnt too much dreaming about that ! :)

3: CONVOLUTION DEVICE :with a good library of hardware 's impulses :eqs, comps, preamps ,reverbs etc...
it will be very well integrated in live and not soo cpu consumming like other free convolution device like sir 1 by exple .
plus for the commercial side :ableton could sell impulses's libraries of vintage hardware .

What do you think?
I like this idea too. I like the way Sonar handles this. In the Sonar console view, there's a visual of the freq spectrum showing what's been cut and boosted by the eq. If you double click on this it opens up the sonitus eq - in live it would be eq8.

Good effects are of course welcome, but not a DAW's primary job, when a DAW is designed to be able to use external (VST) plugins.

How many of you requesting effects have actually done a search (on KVR or whatever) and tried out at least the free ones?
And if you tried them all and didn't like any of them (which I highly doubt), what makes you think that if Ableton adds a new reverb it will be better than the already existing (free) VSTs?

I'd much rather see Ableton spend time/resources on making Live itself better at (MIDI) editing, adding some workflow features, making it more stable etc. Just porting it to 64 bit and making it work without any issues is a big task in itself.
i want more effets.

thanks but ..excuse me i dont understand..i dont talk about consolidation ...can i print an fx in an audio clip by consolidate it ? i dont think so .. and i know the flatten thing..

by exple : you have recorded a long audio file ,and after you seperate and create lot of little clips from that long audio file .

so you have a lot of audio files in this track to eq and compress by exple .
the problem is that i must freeze ,flatten and unfreeze ALL the little clips (when you have more than hundreds its long and boring ..) JUST to print an fx to ONE clip . and that process for ALL the audio clips !!

so not in live's spirit to have a good workflow !!!

yeah..I hear you.. it's a pain..
the way I do it is create stems on different tracks with different fx..
then group them..
(but I don't need to 'destructive' edit quite often)
...I guess it's a workflow preference

Live lacks in the offline (and batch) processing features...
so...I agree
would be great to get some stuff in that end..

Perhaps Ableton could release the source code to Live as OpenSource then we could all muck-in and programme the most requested features together? ;-)

Effects are a waste of time, get the usability sorted out.

I use so few of the ableton fx cos I have got much much better au's - eq - manley massive passive, urs, or several others,

reverb - lexicon, uad emt,

limiter - elephant,

etc
etc

There's nothing that is native to live that you can't get a good free version of anywya and the quality is the same or better.
So why ask for it?

Please if someone can give me a good answer it would help me understand this bleating for more fx that i see every time a new version is mentioned...
I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

No.

Yes.

None of which is cheap or free

Accusing people of 'bleating' when they ask for something they need, will not make for constructive conversation.

I'm not sure it would justify another full upgrade price. But Ableton would get me to sit up and take notice if I were able to place ANY panel wherever I wanted. I would like, for example, my widescreen monitor ENTIRELY for arrange view, and the channel strip at the base. I would like to use the 4:3 monitor I have next to it ENTIRELY for a zoomed waveform / score / step-sequencing / MIDI editor view.

Ableton have a lot right, currently, with their "panels, no windows" approach. But its one big failing is no proper multiple-monitor support, allowing especially to fully zoom and maximise the MIDI editor.

I like a lot of the Live effects, and use them regularly. I don't have many VSTs at all, most of them are either mastering plugins or synths. Live's effects are good enough for me, except that I would like EQ-8 to be more transparent and - preferably - linear phase. Reverb, as others have said, is also due a massive overhaul, surely? (Though I like it very much as it is for sound design...)

Otherwise, they really should stabilise Live 8 first, and be aiming for a major rewrite + 64-bit for Live 9, if they haven't already.

Not to say that I disagree with your feature request, but you can rather quickly achieve this by creating a new audio track and resampling the desired part of the other track into it.

how about melodyne-like audio editing in the clip view? You hit an analyze-button and then have the ability to rearrange the original audiofile like in melodyne?
