I've got a few MIDI takes - I want to keep all the notes from the live play - but I don't want to hear all of the pickup notes. Is there a way - in the piano view to pick a note and deactivate it? I don't want to delete or adjust it in any way (I may want the note, just like it was played, later).
I can turn down the volume (but it doesn't really go away). I need to save the note's start and stop times for later ... but for now, I want to stop it from playing.
Is this directly possible?
Thanks,
-Luther

Re: How to mute or deactivate but not remove MIDI notes
Hi,
Not sure if this will work but what about dropping the velocity down to 0? All I can think of at the moment.

i just copy those parts to clip slots "further down" which i don´t use in the track.
then i can work in the original part and can get back to the copy if needed.
in arrange i just copy the whole track and can switch between edited and original.

In my version of Live you can highlight the notes you want then right click (or two finger tap on my Macbook pad) then select deactivate notes. This turns them gray in the MIDI editor.
Do you have such an option on your setup?
