Ableton Live 8.2
Re: Ableton Live 8.2
downloaded quickly and installed fine here.
Demoed Amp a bit this morning. I'm very used to Line 6 modeling, so it took me awhile to get used to the different sound. At first I didn't like it, but then as I tweaked I got sounds very similar to the same modeled amps in Line 6. Every amp modeling software I've tried is like this. It can take a lot of tweak to learn how the models react and get a sound you like. Don't just listen to presets!!!
To me this is Ableton staying competitive. Pretty much every other daw seems to include amp modeling so now Ableton can say they do to. I don't see anyone who already has amp modeling plugins to "switch" to Amp, but its fantastic for those who don't. And I also really like the fact that all the controls are instantly mapped to my Axiom Pro. Something that doesn't work with Gearbox or PodFarm.
Anyone who has Softube's Amp Room... care to compare with Amp? I'm curious if they used the same models.

Re: Ableton Live 8.2
So does this mean we're "even" over the whole share debacle?

Re: Ableton Live 8.2
use your daw of choice and stfu, nobody forces you to use Live - you guys just come across like 3-year olds.
make some music and stop trolling - its ridicoulus, really.

Sorry for asking again:[nis] wrote:Hi,
non-Suite users also get AMP as racks, but you can't edit them. Quote from our download page:
"Live 8.2 also includes free collection of effect racks that include sounds from the latest effect included in Suite 8.2 - Amp. You'll find many of these in the new "Guitar Amp" folder in the Audio Effect Rack section of Live's Device Browser. The new Instrument Rack presets all contain "(Amped)" in the name, and can be found throughout your Instrument Rack folders."
Best,
Nico
I don´t own the Suit version of Live, just the regular version. Can i purchase AMP anyway and will be able to use it / edit it then?

mr.adl - yes, you can purchase Amp separately. Go to the webshop and select "add to cart": https://www.ableton.com/shop/categories ... nstruments

Re: Ableton Live 8.2
Hey guy, its not about me here.. its about serious problems i have with my ability to use the program live, it is suffering..
the crashing is gone in the amount that i go on stage with it.. and after the crashes last year i started to do my gigs with a partner.
shared wage is half wage..bus more fun and you get your show done whatever might crash along the way...
BUT
again problems...
after a time with the APC i removed it for bulkiness and wrong operation mode and got back to my clavia G2
i need a keyboard on stage. this thig can do some fancy sounds..and
it gives a brilliant controler.. with cascades of program changes when you turn the mod wheel down...
But..
It has internal sequencers... They are the fun.. the reason you dont need to cary a 303 and a 808 and a fx rack with you...
And i cant operate this way with Ableton Live..
again.. I allways choose way of working where this Program has problems..
Clock reciever for the main beat and remote control for ableton live in one unit dont works !!!
And the oficial statement of Ableton is.. that is not suposed to work..
switch remote feedback off..
ok.. brilliant workaround for a machine with 8 rotaries, 8 Buttons and 8 Scenes for them.. feedback makes sense in this config...
on your master keyboard that is doing drums and doing the mix inside ableton live controler feed back is most usefull..
Sorry for the extended version..
In short.. the problem is easy to fix if ablton would be so nice to progran theire midi functionality after the standard midi specifications instead of reinventing this in a reduced form.
Maybe that is really not a bug because it is not crashing the program...
But someone should adress the problem..
When this is no Bug.. who do i need to adress to get this problem noticed?
The scrum master?

Re: Ableton Live 8.2
The workaround would be to use it as a remote control and sync using your ears, I think that's how most folks are doing it.
Re: Ableton Live 8.2
Hello all,
this is one of my first posts, I reckon.
As many in this forum, I am quite annoyed by the lack of functionality of the midi sync in Ableton live, this is my main concern with the software to be honest.
I play music with another guy and we both have Live (Me: Pc, Him: Mac) and we use an AKAI MPD1000 to get the sync because is basically impossible to do it via computer.
As Ableton Live is supposed to be used Live, for its proper nature, It is quite annoying that this feature is not sorted out still.
So my point is, you can be excited by a new amp modelling machine (I am a guitarist and I still prefer real amps) most probably because you don't have this syncronization problems but It is important to highlight the fact that the most used DAW in the world (probably) is weak in the most important feature it should have.
My 2p worth comment
Cheers.

Re: Ableton Live 8.2
you dont understand the problem.. i replace a 808 and a 303 with emulations inside the G2...
that are the foundations of an acid house related set.. they need to get the good clock
But..by accident.. the G2 gives a better fader box than most on the market. you want to use that ability because you payed many euros for that ability..
You can say.. not many machines on the market with taht kind of options.. but the G2 is not the only one..
And just acording to midi standard only sys ex comands are allowed to interupt the realtime commands like the clock...
So.. there should be no effekt of any controler feedback to the clock.. except..you havent programed that clock/realtime event priority.
or you use unspecifed sysex commands.. which would be a most unprofessional decission aswell...
to fuck midi performance for the sake of unknown sys ex reciving devices, one might own or not? not good!
I any case.. the program has a problem here..
A problem that underuns the german routine.. its no bug.. it´s just our way.. so it dont gets realized as a problemg and put into the demo basket..
however.. even when this might be a minority problem. it shows a fundamental problem of ablton to do it wright in the first place..
There are good reason why the clock has priority in the midi standard.. Its a bit stressing when your main DAW is so limited sometimes..
main problem is that my bug report got ignored.. so i can be sure that the situation wont change !
Maybe i get a APC again to overcome abletons shortcomings.
I dont like that..and i worry more about the weight than about the price of the unit.
In any case Ableton should look into theire sync issues.. they are in any department, and for any workflow that needs syncing, sub optimal..
regardles of sync format and wether ableton is master or slave...
ok..rewire works
but all out the box related formats suck..
How is the new serato Bridge? is sync sucking there too?
