hi,perhaps a real noob question but i can't seem to find the answer.
i want to use a sampled loop(wav file) on a midi keyboard, so i dragged it into sampler but when i change the note the tempo and the pitch also changes. is there a way round this.
thanks

Re: looped samples
No doubt. What do you want to happen when you press a key? What do you want to happen differently when you press a different key?

Re: looped samples
I think he is talking about timestretching inside the sampler.
There isn't a timestretch feature yet. But I hope Ableton will come up with something like this. Option for now: Edit the sample in arrangement view, adjust the transpose, set warp mode to complex and drag the sample where you want it.

Re: looped samples
heres what i would do, drop the sample into a clip slot, right click and slice to midi, use whatever setting you need to get each note to be its own sample,
next drop in a midi pitch plugin onto the track containing the midi loop created when you sliced the sample.
go into midi map mode and press and hold the lowest key you would want to use, whilst this one is held press the highest key you would want to use. you might have to make adjustments in the mapping preoperties to suit the key span you mapped.
but you can now transpose the sample up and down with the keyboard without it going out of sync.
the notes will still get shorter but how bad and how noticable that is will depend on how far and down you go moving away from the root note.
