The worst part of The Departed? The wankery of star power on screen. ffs. Each actor trying to outdo one another and Nicholson trying to outdo Nicholson.

Painful.

Should have been a total ensemble cast of unknowns.

That would have been a start.

One of the finest films in the last 10 years. Easily.

Brilliant in it's simplicity.

I highly recommend "Audition." Takeshi Miike's other movies are great too, including "Gozu," which is really amazing and disturbing. Or "Ichi the Killer."

The thing about this character is that he is not really that far removed from Don Fanucci in Godfather 2, both pantomime villains really. Yet one film is lambasted and the other lauded as one of the greatest films of all time.

If you liked "Control" and/or like slow/noir movies: Anton Corbijn's "The American" is good.

There Will Be Blood was ruined by Paul Dano. IMNSHO. This guy can't act for shit and looked even more amateur next to DDL. Plus he was in Little Miss Sunshine, one of the most overrated piece of shit movies of the last decade.

I thought for a minute that you were saying that Daniel Day-Lewis couldn't act! 8O

No, he's good in pretty much everything he does. Except Nine.

But that was a pretty bad movie so I don't really hold it against him.

There Will Be Blood was THE most overrated film of the last decade - possibly even the last 2 decades.
Bar none.
