free midi plug ins for live
you could find here some free plug ins for live
http://vinuesa.club.fr/projet-flou/english/general.htm
(in the tools section of the site)
especially usefull with live:
joystick>midi controler
midi CC controler monitor
midi lfo
sample delay
all of them could send midi to ableton live thrugh midiyoke virtual ports
http://www.midiox.com/index.htm?http:// ... /myoke.htm
no needs of an external application (bidule, console...) just put them on a track ins (audio signal are bypassed)
bugs reports and suggestions are welcome

just had a quick look at these, and they're a godsend!! the joystick controller i particular is way cool! i can save the setup within the set instead of running an external program! YAY!! is there any chance of this being modified to pick up the d-pad/POV controller on my rumblepad? or does it do this already, but i'm not seeing it?
haven't tried the lfo yet, but will do soon...

joystickctrl is based on david haupt's Joystick In 3.0 free synthedit module
http://www.dehaupt.com/SynthEdit/JoystickIn.htm
david haupt is great!
I think I have use all joystick data send by this wonderful synthedit module,up to 6 axes, and up to 32 buttons per joystick!
I have only limited the buttons number (12), it could be easily increase but it's a matter of cpu ..., and joystickwith more than 12 buttons are rare
I have test it with numerous joystick from different manufactor and seems to always work find with analog joysticks, the directional "digital pad nintendo style" is not supported
could you give me link where I can see your rumble pad chararteristics and eventualy a picture of it, (what's a d-pad /pov?)

heres a link, although i'm not using the cordless version yet...
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/produ ... ENTID=9069
problem is, the dpad is a "digital pad nintendo style" control. i guess we need to wait for the great mr haupt to support it. (i only realised how many synthedit synths i'm using with his modules when i saw his website - the guy is truly GREAT!!) should i email him and see if he can include that type of controller? whats he like to deal with?
the joystick control as it is is brilliant!! unfortunately i can't get the lfo to be seen by live. i can open it in bidule and energy xt, but not live - strange. also, the control test vst won't show up in bidule, but is seen by the other two. not sure what this all means....

there is a software (shareware) to convert from any usb devices signals to midi events, controls, notes,...
it's great!

thank for the feedback
I'dont understand too..., I can see and use midilfo2 in live 3 here
I have designed midilfo for live 3 so it is a "vst fx" and not a vsti , I have notice that some host have diifficulties too know wich categories (vsti/vst) this sort of midi plugins belongs
I supposed that you use live 4?
so I have made a vsti version of midi lfo 2
i hope that it could work as an instruments but I can't verify (no live 4 here)
I have also made a new vst export of midi lfo so you could try the vst version too (very little difference but who knows?)
I put the 2 versions on the same package (same link and same name than before)
midi-lfo-vst.2.0
midi-lfo-vstI.2.0
it's realy a shame that I haven't made any paypal donation to him yet ('')... (
if david haupt include the digital pad to the joystick module it will be quickly and freely include in my joystickctrl plug in...
let me know about the midilfo2 issue...
if the vsti version works, I should do the same for the controler
subsidiary question: did the joystckctrl recognize a vst in all your vst hosts ?
about steim, is it a mac only sofware?

just gave the updated plugs a whirl, and they work fine. now everything is seeing everything, inluding your new multi midi controller. i'll email david and see how i go with the direction controller.
i spent the weekend setting up some complex joystick mappings - i'm currently controlling and blending 4 effects with one of the joysticks, and still deciding what i want to do with the other one!!
thanks again for the great plugins

With some fiddling, I guess one could come up with a Synthedit joystick VST module that emulates a "Faderfox light"...hmmm...
Use two buttons two select among the tracks, two other to select among the scenes, two for start and stop the selected clip. Remap the two analog sticks so they send out different MIDI CCs (or channels) depending on which track is selected. This would mean that you could map the sticks to different effects in different tracks.
You could even introduce shift functions using e.g. the shoulder or stick buttons...

not possible with synthedit yet (as I know....)Use two buttons two select among the tracks, two other to select among the scenes, two for start and stop the selected clip. Remap the two analog sticks so they send out different MIDI CCs (or channels) depending on which track is selected.
with the current version of my midijoystickctrl you could already map an axis to several midi cc and/or channel simultaneously, if you don't work simultaneously with 2 scene you could control different parameters on each scene "almost" independentlyThis would mean that you could map the sticks to different effects in different tracks.
I work on it....You could even introduce shift functions using e.g. the shoulder or stick buttons...

Faderfox shifts among the tracks by sending out different note numbers when you turn the track button. Each note number is of course pre assigned to a track. Should be possible to emulate by eg using a pre programmed step sequencer in Synthedit that steps a step when you press a button.
Stepping up and down between scenes can be done by just sending two different note numbers, one for up and one for down.
Depending on where in the step sequence you are, you change the CCs sent from the joystick(s) (or easier, change MIDI channel). Instant remapping of the joysticks to the active track.

I put together a plug that works like this yesterday. Still needs a lot of polish but it basically works. Only took me acouple of hours, due to David Haupts excellent Synthedit modules.
The single hardest thing was to get the joysticks to send out relative MIDI CCs properly, but that was because I couldn't find any decent specification. Turns out that a CC value of 1 is the smallest increment and a value of 65 is the smallest decrement in the most straight forward relative mode.
I can use two buttons to step left and right among the tracks, two buttons to step up and down between scenes and one button to start the clip in the intersection. The joysticks are remapped to different MIDI channels depending on which track is currently selected, which means that they can have different uses in different tracks
It is a bit of a pain to set up a controller template - the tracks' number and order must be fixed - but the Faderfox has the same issues.

that's a good idea
but not corresponding to my main goals:
have a blind control (don't need any monitoring unless for setup)
and a direct access to clip start stop
however, could be usefull too, I'm curious to see it (I could test it if you want)

I can mail it to you once I done some (a lot of...) polishing. It is very much hardcoded for one of these though:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/produ ... ENTID=6951
My goal is to have a "Faderfox light". Especially to be able to control a lot of effects/parameters with the same sticks and just switch between the tracks with a button press.
Thinking of doing a shift mode where the sticks get mapped to track volume/pan and eg A/B send as default. In unshifted mode the sticks go to whatever params you assign them to in that track.
How does your plug handle relative CC changes?

the faderfox track control stuff sounds really handy. i was using daniels plugin last night for the first time in a rehearsal and that was probably the only thing i thought it lacked. to trigger things i still need a button for each track, or only use scenes. is it possbile to incorporate this daniel? i for some reason assumed it was just a limitation inherent to synthedit, but if it can be done it'd be great...
if you need anyone else to help test your plugin, i'm available too michael. i'm using a rumblepad 2, but it seems like the logitech stuff is all pretty similar and i'm guessing it should work with anything taking HID input.
i'm also checking out getting the wireless version. not sure if it'll work the same, but anythings possible...
