Yeah that's what makes this a tough one, WD Scorpio laptop HDs are well solid HDs.
The 4GB SSD chip in the Seagate could either work really well with Live, or be next to useless.
The user has no control over what it learns so it's up to the programmers whether it "learns" the first song you load into it or if it learns only a tiny chunk of the data like Kontakt does with tiny bits of RAM for disk streaming. Dunno?
If the price was the same for both I would automatically jump on the XT, but the 500GB WD Scorpio is $40 cheaper. :?

Cool info, but they do no comparison between the Scorpio and the XT, which is my main question.

The XT just went on sale, so I'm even more tempted.
Have you checked to see if they have reviews of the models you're interested in their reviews section?

I Just installed a Hitachi Travelstar 500gb 7200 RPM on my MacBook Pro 2010, so far works fine and quicker than the stock harddrive that came with it.

Thanks, I read through these before. Here's another.

This one makes me think more and more about the XT.

Wow, it's really surprising to see that both 500gb 7200 rpm drives gave better battery life than the fujitsu 320gb 5400 rpm drive. I always thought a benefit of 5400 drives was that they were less draining on battery life. Maybe this isn't such a big deal anymore?

Yeah battery life has never been much of a concern of mine, if it lasts two hours I'm good. :)
Great to know progress is being made though.
