beginner help with loops pls

Post by alexw » Thu Oct 07, 2010 9:00 am

Hi!

I'm just getting started with Ableton and have managed to solve a few problems with the online tutorials, but hoping someone can help with something I'm stumped on...

I've recorded an audio clip, but it won't loop. I've got the sample display open and "loop" is selected in yellow.
I also moved the square bracket thing to exactly the length I want, but the moving line just keeps on going.....

If I activate the loop switch for the arrangement loop, then this does make it loop - but in the tutorial I was watching the guy does not have this activated and his clip loops anyway.

Did I forget to do something?

sounds as if you have recorded something into arrangement view and you are playing back the clip in arrangement, but not the clip for which you have set the loop brackets.

So far I just recorded the one clip, I recorded it in the session view. I set the brackets after I had recorded it....

just highlight, then drag and drop (or copy and paste) the loop from the arrangement view to the clip view?

Did you press the loop button in clip view?

Yes, sounds like the loop button in the transport bar needs pressing. Even if you have highlighted the loop this will still need to be done.
