bouncing audio, tips?
I'm looking for tips/workflows on how to bounce audio down from midi tracks. I find if i route a track into another audio track there is an issue with latency.
To freeze & then flatten works well but for some reason live is restrictive in what you can flatten, for example if you group tracks or have tracks routed into each other it will not let you freeze.

hmm? What's the issue? I've never found a latency issue bouncing this way.Ernst.Ruska wrote:I'm looking for tips/workflows on how to bounce audio down from midi tracks. I find if i route a track into another audio track there is an issue with latency.
Right, various kinds of routing and side-chaining disables freezing. It's a BUMMER! (wish Abelton would relax this restriction.)To freeze & then flatten works well but for some reason live is restrictive in what you can flatten, for example if you group tracks or have tracks routed into each other it will not let you freeze.
But I've had no problem at all doing either (1) rendering with selected tracks solo'd (or equivalently, muting unwanted tracks), or (2) routing into audio tracks and recording in real time.

Re: bouncing audio, tips?
I definately get latency when sending audio, if the tracks are cpu heavy then its really noticeable.
I think the main problem is the way i work i have 6 drum racks in a group, so i have kicks on one drum rack, snare claps on another ect. After i have individualy added fx to each drum i basically want to convert that drum rack into a set of audio tracks within a group thats siting within the main drum group, but i cant seem to be able to place a group within a group.

You get latency on a bounced track when everything is ITB, i.e., all software instruments, software MIDI, etc.? That's quite odd, I don't remember ever seeing such a thing. It sounds like a latency compensation bug...

I always thought it was well known live did this.
I will have to do some testing.

I think it was my plugin buffer was set to as audio buffer. I have change that to 256, that seems to have resolved the delay.
Re: bouncing audio, tips?
drop looper on an audio track and set it to record from master, that way you can record anything from any track incl realtime tweaks etc. A diff way of bouncing and freezing etc

Re: bouncing audio, tips?
Pug-ins can have latency. Like compressor/Limiter look-ahead.
