R.I.P. sweet, sweet baby. :(

Post by ChiDJ » Fri Oct 08, 2010 7:25 pm

Wednesday my workhourse, my angel, my tried and true baby took a dirt nap.

My 2004 PPC G5 took a giant shit. Dead! Boom!

Now I am finally entering Intel land. I bought the Mac Pro 2.8 QuadCore Nehalem Desk Top, 16 gigs of RAM and 3 1 TB drives.

I've been using LIVE 7 for years and am happy with it and have been hesitant to upgrade to 8 because of the new warping method and stability concerns.

Anyone using 8 on the Nehalem's ? issues?

Uhhm...I'm pretty sure that The Lounge is specifically targeted for discussions about farts, boogers, greasey food, ambient jazz-metal, dandruff, S&M, commodes, lite-porn, Russian hookers, FruityLoops jokes, nasty British teeth, green music and black holes. Please try to stay on-topic. :o

This deserves the XXL version!
What's an Intel chip doing in a Mac?
A whole lot more than it's ever done in a PC.

I am gonna clone my drive's and put those on the two 1 tb drives. (my old baby was driving Tiger). I'm hoping I can get away with upgrading as little software as possible and the clone will let all my universal binary apps work. (I did buy DP 7 and MachV 2.0).

Good luck with the new setup Tod, I know what it's like when an old faithful machine is retired.

You should be able to do even more and are now future proofed a lot better so it should work out well, once the wound in your wallet has healed ;)

I don't want the opinions of Noobs and music snobs. Hence, my reason for posting in the lounge YOU MONG!

Seriously, I switched to Logic years ago, tries switching back at 5, and had 5 sitting on the computer doing nothing, but DP7 is retardedly fucking cool shit.
You will be stoked, a fuck ton of UI enhancements all over the program, and Themes is sweet!
I'm still on Live 7, looking at a possible upgrade, but I'm pretty happy with 7.

I was hoping you would jump on here. 8) Was there much of a learning curve going from 5 to 7? That's my greatest concern. I need to be up and running quickly. I'm actually hoping I can trick the new mac with a cloned drive and run my old Tiger system on a cloned drive with DP 5. But I bought 7 just in case.
