Securing a laptop to a table?

Looking for a good solution to securing my laptop to a rack bag I bought recently! Basically the laptop sits on top of this 2u case, but it slides around too much. I said table in the title because its really the same deal EXCEPT the solution cant be a table connecting laptop stand. Stuff in the past that has worked is simple electrical tape to stop it sliding around, but I need a semi-permanent solution because its annoying measuring tape out every time I practice or gig. Ive been thinking about using sticky backed velcro, but would worry it would destroy the bottom of the laptop and be very difficult to remove. Anybody have any ideas?

you can get some silicone type of mesh that comes on a roll for not much money.

3m do some self adhesive velcro type strips and the glue isnt that difficult rewove and i would doubt would cause any damage.

If you use velcro, put the fuzzy side on the laptop and the rough side on the table/whatever.. this way you'll just have some fuzzy feet on the laptop when you put it on a normal surface... OR get a hardshell case for your laptop and put the velcro on that instead.

That is GREAT advice. Ive some experience with the 3m stuff, used it on my pedalboard, but know how adhesive it is, but the hardshell totally fixes that problem! Thanks for your help!

My buddy has one of these for his cellphone in his car, you can take some pretty fast turns and the phone just sticks to it most of the time

but better use the thin rubber just in 2 stripes left/right, so that there is still an air cushion underneath the laptop for ventilation...
i would say two stripes with 1,5 inch wide should do the job


there is also this stuff what we call klettband in german.. maybe "zipper tape???" also to be used in thin stripes because you nevver will be able to remove your laptop from the table again when you apply it under the complete surface..

this stuff gives a very solid removable conection.. the stripes should be slightly less than 1 inch wide, 1 inch in the max...

you place the soft part of this tape on the laptop and the part with the litte claws on the table..


and before apllynig that tape the surfaces need to be oil free !! window cleaner os usually best to acive that.. no hard stuff like alcohol

just had a look..
theese sticky backed velcro is similar to the klettband just not flexibel and having hooks/ claws on booth sides..

should do the job aswell.. as with the klettband..dont over do it otherwise the removal of the laptop might cause to much stress on the housing

cut up an old mouse pad to make some "rubber feet", use rubber cement to adhere these feet to the laptop. Rubber cement is safe, won't damage anything, but strong enough to keep your handmade deep on the laptop for a long time if not for good.

I use the 3M velcro picture hanging strips, http://www.concordsupplies.com/3m-comma ... 85314.html. They work great, easy to remove if needed, doesn't pose any issue with damage. And they are plastic, not like the old school velcro with that fuzzy crap.
