bringing this thread back to life.

I just figured I'd post my problem/solution for anyone who might find it helpful in the future. Oh and by the way, I'm using a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7.

Problem: I did a live studio recording with my band a lil while back, everything tracked out and recorded using protools. Each and every track was exported as a wav and given to me. I imported into ableton, ensuring that auto-warping of long samples was turned off, but when I played back the wavs, there were constant pops and clicks.

Solution: I was using the ASIO4ALL sound driver which was actually causing the pops and clicks for whatever reason. Switched over the default sound driver in my PC and viola, the pops and clicks disappeared.

Hope this is helpful to someone.

I THINK I HAVE IT!
I havn't read this whole post. so I apologise if someone has said this already.

In preferences>audio>latency>buffer size.
I dragged the buffer size al the way to 2048. (click apply)
then adjusted the 'driver error compensation' down/up so that the 'overall latency was at appx. 0.
This seemed to sort it for me (I hope).
(buffer size was the big problem, i believe. if it doesn't work for you try different numbers i.e not 2048)

I hope it works for you also.

Best,
Jackson
