Mixed Master/Slave mode for warped clips?

Post by willrees » Sun Oct 17, 2010 4:55 pm

I have a non-clicked performance that I'm using as the basis for a song. I figured out how to set that audio clip as the Master and use its warp points to make the song's tempo match up to the clips flowing tempo. It works great. But...

There are a couple sections where the performer really flubbed the tempo. For those couple spots it would be great to be able to have the clip be a temporary slave in order to warp it.

Anyone know if you can mix Master and Slave warp modes like this? Any hints on how to achieve it?

Maybe a couple dummy clips "below" the original that would act as Masters for those sections? Any pitfalls doing that?

OK, so I answered my own question. A great way to do that is to split the clip right before the performer's tempo goes screwy and then then again after the tempo flub, leaving you with a clip in the the middle containing only the out of time part. Then you simply make that clip Slave. Done. Works great.
