Ableton 8.2 crashing when I load whole tunes into a channel
I'm using chunks of tunes to create in intro to a radio show so I'm dragging whole tunes from itunes and dropping them into Ableton then chopping them up.
In the past this hasn't been a problem but now it seems as soon as I'm dealing with a piece of audio greater than a few seconds Ableton just hangs then crashes.
When i load old song projects or deal with small pieces of audio it's fine but as soon as I try and drop whole tunes into Ableton it just hangs.
Any ideas?

Have you submitted your crash reports? If not, please do so and get in touch with Ableton Technical Support: http://www.ableton.com/support

Have you tried increasing the size of your cache in the Live preferences?

is the only purpose of this forum so that ableton reps can cut and paste "please contact support" into every thread?
I am sitting here trying to decide to upgrade to 8.2.1 and every thread says "please contact support"
thanks for the information!! what a joke

in every thread regarding 8.2.1 on the first page of this forum, the only information I am reading is "please contact support"
I am running ableton 8.1.3 on 4 10.6.4 machines and would like to know if I should upgrade. what do you think?

the correct way to report crashes IS to send the crash report to the support. the forum is not the place to go if you have a bug. the forum is for customers to discuss stuff on their own. so if you have some help where we, other users, can help, post it here. if you have something that ableton has to help, send it to their support.doc$ wrote:is the only purpose of this forum so that ableton reps can cut and paste "please contact support" into every thread?

it was always that way. it's no joke, it's just the ordinary way. they have one specific app for bug reports, and every bug there gets a number, and worked on. having to do the same in here again, now that would be a joke.

Re: Ableton 8.2 crashing when I load whole tunes into a channel
well, I load whole tracks onto ableton all the time. So, until someone in this thread has a cohesive statement in regards to this problem I guess I should not upgrade.
What I am saying - is how am I supposed to know when to upgrade? the main section of the site has a vaugue description of what it fixes, not nearly as comprehensive as I would like to read

I appreciate the back and forth, maybe you can help me with this - is it possible for me to acquire a "program only" update for 8.2 - not 8.2.1 somewhere on the site?
