first unexplainable crash

Post by datagroove » Mon Feb 17, 2003 1:15 am

v2.0.2
I have crashed before, usually doing things that I knew were to blame- like shifting my audio loop folder structure around while live was open, or pushing it to hard.. but this time all I did was hit edit on my tc works reverb plugin and Live closed its screen gave me a dialog about an unexpected quite and then repeated to play the a fragmented version of 2 or 3 of the loops combined over and over and over again (indefinitely until I had to restart the computer). All while the program was not even in the finder as being active.

Hi datagroove,

sorry for that but it's a bug of Live 2.0.1 & 2.0.2. Internally this one is fixed and will be included in the next bugfix update.

So meanwhile you should not move/delete/ecject or erase folders while Live is open.

regards,
Alex

thanks for the reply Alex but the above crash was not due to moving files or folders around (i am aware of that bug and don’t do that anymore while live is open)...

I just crashed again –unexpectedly- For instance this time it just crashed and audio kept playing as above but the action I did prier to the crash was an action I have been doing ALLLLL day- over and over again for the last 3 or 4 days. - i was simply recording in a synth line.

*and now (as I type this) I was just letting it sit there to see what would happen. I had no control of the app and the audio just looped back indefinitely...it appears to have let go of the crash/freeze now and I have control again. (it was about a 4min duration of no control) Needless to say i am just going to save and restart the machine.

dare i say ever time i crash under this circumstance i will post here in this tread to document it –it will also serve as a way to bide my time until the system un-crashes its self.. :)

this crash was just like my last one. It occurred while recording. No explanation as to why this recording ended in a crash while countless others worked perfectly. That is what is so strange about this.

There it goes still spiting out an audio loop while I have no control over the computer, now its fragmenting the audio (sounds pretty cool_) and surly in a couple of minutes it will stop.
….
It just stopped, a command S for saving was pushed last, now I wait to see if it will save..

nope, the file menu item is highlighted.. but enough time sitting here and waiting… time to reboot. (Thankfully I save very frequently.)

hello6am

did you solve this?

hullo datagroove,
I wondered if you'd managed to solve your occasional-freeze-while-audio-continues prob? it sounds quite similar to the issue I've been having...

Sounds a lot like a bug Logic used to have. The 'ethernet bug'. It happened when ethernet was selected in TCP/IP. Particularly if the computer wasn't connected to an active ethernet network. [though it did happen when it was as-well]
