Real Time Audio control to scene recording.

Post by killself » Thu Oct 21, 2010 4:33 am

I am using imac 3.20 i3 Maudio pro49, Audio kontrol 1, Massive. I am a noobie. Why does my control of pitch envelopes and cut offs and LFO rates not translate to the scene recording when I fool with them during recording? I even manual mapped them to knobs. What am I doing wrong?

What do you mean with scene recording?
There are 2 ways of recording.. 1- Record audio to a new audio clip. 2- Record the performance. No audio is recorded, only your tweaking.

I mean when I have a nice sound and a nice modulation (wobble) and I record a clip the tweeking is not picked up? Just the original sound.

That sounds bizzare..
So you have your synth on one track and record the output/input on another track..? Any more tracks?
The input/output on both tracks are equally set up with each other..?

Sounds like you are attempting to record automation to the session view.
Which is not possible.

If this is the case, then this is my advice:
You have to record it using the global record button, and into the arrangement.
ctrl + left/right = select transient

ctrl + shift + left/right = select between transients

ctrl + space = play selection

Nothing. It is not possible to do that in Live's session view.

If you want to do something like this within the session view-style non-linear pattern sequencer environment, I would take a look at Native Instruments Maschine. It will do exactly what you're trying to do: tweak knobs for pitch/filter/LFO...etc. and have it applied into patterns as you jam. And no need to map anything either.
