It's more than 2 inches difference taking into account width and depth.

You guys are both nitpicking at this point. Conclusion: It will fit the bill for some folks and it won't for others, even before anyone of them have actually used it.

Most of you, expectedly, are utterly missing the point of the Air series. Which is:

All laptops/tables/net books/whatever are going to be as thin as your needle dicks, have an ENORMOUS amount of power and an ENORMOUS amount of memory.

Are the Air machines perfect? Of course not, FFS.

But somebody has to get the ball rolling and do some actual goddamn trailblazing, and that somebody is - as usual - Apple.

Why would you settle for Core 2 Duo when you can buy i7? Seriously, I'm not Mac-knocking, but why go for Duo when you can go for Quad? Especially when Live will use multicores?

Taiwanese company Photofast has announced the first 3rd party SSD storage upgrade kit for the new MacBook Air. (via Engadget) The new MacBook Air is the first Apple laptop to use a special SSD card rather than a traditional hard drive enclosure. While the new SSD storage card allows Apple to further reduce the size of the MacBook Air's enclosure, upgrade parts are less readily available. Depends on your needs. An iPad is never going to completely replace a production or performance computer which the Air will on a limited scale. But an iPad can replace a computer for more typical needs…also on a limited scale. Just consider it a customizable control surface that also does a shit ton of other things. If I didn't screw around with music production I don't know if I would even need a computer other than for larger storage capacity.

I currently run with an Alienware mx11 for DJ gigs and some light production work when on the plane, simular resolution and screen size. I can tell you that the only reason to get a unit that small is to DJ with, not to run a live act with. The processor used in that thing is going to freek out after adding only a couple of effects. You will also need to get a dedicated surface to use in conjuntion with it.

To be honest I usualy use my precision M6500 most of the time, even at gigs. The difficulty in working with something that small makes and space saving benifits moot.
