Re: Novation LAUNCHPAD: new dedicated controller for Live!!!
What ever happened to daisy chaining multiple launchpads? I've scoured the internet, and have come up empty. Even Novation has nothing on this. The only video I found shows how to connect two launchpads to separate USB ports. Why there is a video for something as easy as that makes my mind boggle, and in no way is it daisy chaining.
There's also a mysterious port on the launchpad that I've no idea what it is for...

Why would anyone use a Launchpad now when there's touchAble, LiveControl, Griid...etc.?drewbixcube wrote:What ever happened to daisy chaining multiple launchpads? I've scoured the internet, and have come up empty. Even Novation has nothing on this.

iPad = $500 + whatever those apps cost
I picked up a used launchpad for $50, and I'm programming my own patches in M4L... but that's beside the point.
Does anyone know anything about daisy chaining two launchpads?

I was slightly kidding. Launchpads are still useful for running monome apps like MLR (although chipPAD on iPad is a far superior evolved varation of it imo) and Renoise makes good use of it these days with their Lua tools. But for Live clip launching and controls, no way. The aforementioned iPad apps makes it seem useless for that in comparison.drewbixcube wrote:iPad = $500 + whatever those apps cost

launchpad is awesome for Five12 Numerology. And for Live.
There is a big difference between actual buttons and iPad/iPhone screens.

There is a big difference between actually being able to see the clip names/colors on what you're controlling and uninformative buttons that requires you to constantly check the computer screen to see what you're doing and where you're at.jrathkopf wrote:launchpad is awesome for Five12 Numerology. Imo the biggest challenge to daisychain the LP would be the limitations of notes and channels available. This is about 128x16 channel. Daisy chain would require a lot more. I would love to have More user open than 2 !!!
Good idea though

OMFG! This controller looks absolutely perfect! It will revolutionise Live interaction! Has it hit the stores yet? Can I pre-order "Launchpad"?Angstrom wrote:Only if rule number #2 is "read the post dates"

Does this subject header work better for you sporkles?
Ah well... time to look at express card solutions.
I'm not sure I follow... Two launchpads = 128 buttons <- That doesn't work? At any rate, the only reason I'd like to daisy chain is I have limited USB ports, and I'm using them all. I guess it was all just hype when it first came out.transology wrote:Imo the biggest challenge to daisychain the LP would be the limitations of notes and channels available. Just bought 2 Launchpads at Amazon @ 132 each. I hope i'll crank more songs out of Live by using them.
Even a child can play with the Launchpad, it seems: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrN3JwaLVTA

Some people use with Live to :
Simulate buttons to fire clips, but it's not real buttons
Simulate faders to control levels, but it's not real faders
Simulate knobs to control parameters, but it's not real knobs
Oh, god, and
Simulate a midi controller, but it's not a real midi hardware interface
It's for "Virtual" producers, djs and live performers....
BTW, I like it to read this forum, it's very fun....
